Lovers & Friends Festival has crafted a line up to gather Millennials, Zennials, and Generation X. The one day festival being held in Carson, CA, is launching with a heavy hitter line up, proving it can unite black audiences as young as 5 to as old as 60— the site states that all ages are welcomed. Next to Essence Fest, few festival line ups appeal to the youth and their parents, or the ‘Auntie generation’ as many of us say, let alone allow all ages. The one festival I dare to bring my soon-to-be 50 year old mother, and rowdy 5 year old brother is Essence Festival in New Orleans, where I can entrust all bodies are appropriately covered, and all behavior is in check.
With any festival launch, there is excitement followed by skepticism. Although the announcement caused some side eyes as it took social media by storm this past week— a reminder of the Fyre Festival tragedy— the promoters swiftly changed the narrative by locking in artist who previously denounced any involvement, thus turning their social media followers into true believers. Falling on the lower end of the price range, tickets start at $145 for general admissions and range up to $450 for VIP. Many festivals, with the exception of Afropunk, start off around the $250 mark with a line up this extensive.
Pre-sale tickets quickly sold out Thursday afternoon by the days end, but don’t fret as the public sale will be available Friday February 21 2020 at 10:00 a.m. The best part is they provide a payment plan, which has become popular over the recent years with festivals like Coachella. Prepare to gather your coins, and get ready to turn up, or get crunk on May 9 2020. Live performances include Usher, Lil Kim, TLC, Twista, Dru Hill, Tweet, Mario, Amerie, Lil Jon, Summer Walker and Megan Thee Stallion, to name a few of the confirmed artist. Bring the entire family this spring to The Grounds at Dignity Health Sports Park.
